Van Gogh once said-
“One may have a blazing hearth in one’s soul; and yet no one ever comes to sit by it. Passersby see a whisp of smoke rising from the chimney and continue on their way.”
We all have a story and experience to share. I am here to sit with you in yours. I believe in compassion and personal empowerment as the doorway to change and real growth. If you are struggling with expressing emotions, managing behavior, speaking up for yourself, finding personal value, struggles in your relationship or with your confidence, identity, or faith, you do not have to do so alone. I believe in providing you with a safe place to explore, set goals, and to be heard.
I began my journey as a Professional Counselor based on my own experience with the change process. I felt compelled by those who have supported and encouraged me to work in the counseling field. To be an advocate and support to others, I believe in diversity, and self-advocacy through building courage and connection.
I have background in working with faith based-community non-profits as a consultant for religious leaders and therapists. I have been on a national board and president of local chapters of organizations that seek to make connections with mental health and the spiritual community. I have worked in University settings and believe in scientifically researched approaches to help life’s challenges. I am trained in Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and person centered approaches based in self-compassion.
For personal interests, I love music, the arts, and fantasy genre. I have been married for twenty years and have two amazing, hilarious boys.
