I have always been drawn to Psychology from my first introduction class as an undergraduate. I felt the class gave me a perspective that helped me give meaning and understanding to my life, and I wanted to share that with others. I quickly added Psychology as my major and went on to get my Masters in Counseling at George Washington University in 1993. I became licensed as a Professional Counselor, and have been practicing in the Northern Virginia area for 20 years.
I work with adults struggling with anxiety and depression and how that affects their relationships; both personal and professional. I believe through psychotherapy people can gain building blocks to improve the quality of their lives and their relationships.
Besides working with individuals, I work together with my co-therapist, Dr. Aaron Dodini to assist couples with the challenges they encounter. In couples sessions we meet together as a “foursome” enabling both members of the couple to feel like they have an advocate in the room. This also allows us to do deeper individual work with each member of the couple as part of the process of working toward the goals of the couple.
The co-therapy framework also provides us the opportunity to run psychotherapy process groups and multi-couple groups to practice the skills of solving internal conflicts as well as conflicts with others.
My goal is to help people clarify their own needs and goals and to communicate those effectively to others. I believe this helps build a rich, balanced and rewarding life.
